Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valves (also known as “EGR valves”) are a common component in newer vehicles, designed to reduce emissions with minimal performance impact. However, because their function is to control the flow of exhaust gas, they are often exposed to high levels of soot and grime, meaning they can eventually clog up or stick, reducing their efficiency. Summit Racing carries a huge selection of replacement EGR valves for a wide range of applications, ensuring your emissions system is always running at peak efficiency.

The EGR valve is an essential part of your vehicle’s emissions system. The EGR system redirects a portion of your vehicle’s exhaust gases back into the combustion chamber to help reduce NOx emissions. The EGR valve’s role is to control how much exhaust gas makes it back into the engine based on engine speed and load. These exhaust gasses reduce the amount of oxygen available in the combustion chamber, as well as introduce water vapor (a natural byproduct of combustion), cooling down the combustion temperatures and reducing NOx emissions. Some engines utilize a cooled EGR system to increase the density of the exhaust gas before it enters the engine, improving the gas’s ability to reduce combustion temperatures.
In many cases, a failing or failed EGR valve will produce some telltale symptoms. Reduced power and increased fuel consumption can both be caused by restricted or failed EGR valves. You will likely get a check engine light as well, which can be scanned with a code reader to verify the source of the issue. Sometimes, your engine may make a knocking sound, which can also point to a clogged or damaged EGR valve. Replacing the EGR valve will allow your engine to run stronger, with cleaner emissions.
Choosing a high-quality replacement EGR valve is a great way to ensure your vehicle performs at peak efficiency. Shop our complete selection of replacement EGR valves right here at Summit Racing!
