They’re often constructed with one or more layers of fire-retardant material like Nomex or CarbonX for outstanding protection from heat and flame. Driving, or racing gloves are essential equipment for competitive motorsports, and are required by most drag racing, circle track, road racing, and kart racing sanctioning bodies. They’re often constructed with one or more layers of fire-retardant material like Nomex or CarbonX for outstanding protection from heat and flame. Gloves featuring leather or silicone palm pads provide a confidence-building grip on the wheel, and those with external stitching and pre-curved fingers deliver a comfortable feel without excess material bunching under your fingers. While thinner gloves can make it easier to operate switches and controls, those built with thicker construction often deliver superior heat protection. Additionally, neoprene kart racing gloves will keep your hands drier in wet weather conditions. Always consult your rule book or check with your sanctioning body to find the specific racing gloves required for competition. In most cases, the gloves will need to carry a specific SFI or FIA rating or certification.
