Whether it has body-on-frame or unibody construction, your vehicle came from the factory with a chassis designed to flex. Engineers made it this way so that it could absorb all the bumps of daily driving while keeping the driver and passengers safe and comfortable.
However, when you’re converting a street vehicle into a racing vehicle, that flexibility becomes a liability. The massive torque of drag racing engines can twist the frame so much that one of the front wheels can lift off the ground, causing a dangerous loss of control, and chassis flex also loosens your handling on road courses and autocross tracks.

Chassis stiffening kits and components reinforce your chassis to make it more rigid. On a unibody vehicle, they usually include connectors to tie the front and rear subframes together. For body-on-frame vehicles, they include braces to tie the sides together, and/or boxing components to close up the channels in the frame rails. Additional components vary by application, manufacturer, and degree of stiffness required.
Summit Racing Equipment has been helping racers and hot rodders meet their performance goals since 1968, so we know all of the ins and outs of a chassis stiffening project. When you’re ready to hit the track, choose parts from brands you can trust, like Hotchkis Sport Suspension, RideTech, Heidts, UMI Performance, BMR Suspension, Stifflers Suspension, and more.
