Rugged and reliable, the Ford 9-inch is the axle of choice for many racers, off-roaders, and performance enthusiasts. Named for its 9-inch diameter ring gear, the Ford 9-inch rear end accepts a wide variety of gearset ratios and features a drop-out third member for easy ring and pinion swaps right on your workbench. You can even carry multiple center sections for quick bolt-in ratio changes to get the most out of any track or trail conditions. Plus, the units came factory-equipped with 28- or 31-spline axles and differentials.

The Ford 9-inch rear end was introduced in 1957 and discontinued in 1986. The good news is you don’t have to scour the junkyard or prowl a swap meet to equip your ride with the famous 9-inch rear end. You can choose from an extensive selection of aftermarket Ford 9-inch assemblies that feature performance enhancing improvements such as stronger alloys, reinforced pinion bearing supports, and disc brakes. If you have an original Ford 9-inch housing you have lots of options for upgrades, too.
