You'll find these single-plane manifolds on oval tracks, in drag racing, and on NASCAR engines--anywhere that maximum horsepower and torque are needed. The extended, constant cross-sectional area of the runners produces more torque across the midrange--from 3,500 up to 8,500 rpm in most instances. Each 4-barrel sits on top of its own split plenum, which feeds straight, tapered runners that dive directly from the plenum to the intake ports. This results in extremely even, efficient cylinder filling, which eliminates flat spots and produces hefty power bands, starting as low as 1,800 rpm and running as high as 8,800 rpm. Edelbrock Performer series and Carter AFB carburetors are recommended. Some applications cannot mount Holleys in any manner.
