These shocks use a sintered iron piston, which is stronger than traditional metals, to enhance durability for longer service life. Each unit is nitrogen gas-charged for improved ride and handling; reduced aeration helps to maintain tire-to-road contact. Their large 2 in. reserve tube allows for more fluid-producing consistent performance, while their 1 3/8 in. bore offers more lowering pressure than conventional 1 in. bore shocks. Monroe Gas-Magnum shocks are finished off with a 5/8 in. heavy-duty nitrocarburized rod and a special self-lubricating fluid seal to retain gas without excessive wear or friction.
