Torsional vibrations transmitted to other components in the drivetrain diminishes comfort and may even lead to component damage, therefore effective vibration damping is essential.

LuK dual mass flywheels (DMF) reliably dampen torsional vibrations in the powertrain and ensure high gearshift and driving comfort in all speed ranges. Unlike a conventional flywheel, DMFs consists of two masses which are mounted to rotate against each other. A damping system in the form of arc springs is integrated to almost completely absorb the torsional vibrations of the engine.
