On most GM and Ford transmissions with cables, the throttle valve cable pulls out of adjustment at wide-open throttle. This is typically caused by inaccurate geometry of the throttle shaft lever. There should be a specific degree of movement of the attachment element pivot point between closed and wide-open throttle; and a specific distance between the pivot points of the attachment element and the throttle shaft lever.

Ford vehicles with C6 transmissions often have oil pan leaks. The original Ford C6 oil pans are made with thin-gauge steel. If the oil pan bolts are over-tightened, the flange at the bolt holes will warp and result in a poor gasket seal. Once the oil pan flange is distorted, it's difficult to repair and get a good seal. Sonnax automatic transmission pans are 25 percent thicker than OE, made of heavy gauge material and will resist warping at the bolt holes. The thicker flange will allow the bolts to be tightened enough to compress the gasket evenly and result in a good seal. Sonnax pans will withstand repeated assembly without damage.

GM 6L45, 6L50, 6L80 and 6L90 automatic transmission units may exhibit multiple line pressure and cooler/converter/lube flow problems due to excess wear in the pressure regulator bore. Deterioration at the balance spool end allows critical fluid loss, resulting in high line pressure, harsh shifts, and overheating due to reduced cooler/converter flow. Wear at the outboard spool robs converter feed pressure and lowers line pressure, resulting in soft shifts and burnt clutches. Installing a Sonnax pressure regulator valve kit restores the hydraulic integrity of these circuits for proper line pressure control in all ranges. Noticing some forward slip and/or delayed engagement with your GM automatic transmission? Sonnax accumulator pistons are direct replacements for OE plastic pistons and restore sealing integrity at the pin bore. The aforementioned issues, as well as burnt clutches and bands can be caused by loss of fluid. Deterioration at older aluminum piston pin bores due to repeated reciprocation and/or cracks in plastic accumulator pistons may be the cause. Avoid a costly valve body replacement by ordering a Sonnax accumulator piston.
