COMP Cams crankshaft sockets are the perfect addition to your engine-building toolbox. They accept 1/2 in. drive ratchets for versatility and easy engine rotation. They're precision-machined for an accurate fit over the crank snout, and their knurled retaining nut threads-on to sandwich a degree wheel in place. The nut can be loosened, while on the crank snout, so that the wheel can be turned independently of the engine when finding top dead center.

COMP Cams Cam Buttons
Because all roller cam lobes are ground flat instead of tapered, like hydraulic or solid cams, COMP Cams provides a means of holding the cam back to the rear of the engine. Their cam buttons ride between the front of the timing gear and the back of the front cover and can be shimmed for proper endplay of the cam. COMP Cams makes solid nylon buttons and roller bearing thrust buttons for the ultimate in performance.

When engines are equipped with a hydraulic roller camshaft, high rpm is limited by the improper positioning of the internal piston, as the lifter inevitably "pumps up." This improper location results in broken valves and, therefore, leads to lost power or sometimes even engine failure.
