Lions Drag Strip T-Shirt

Street racing burned rubber through Los Angeles, California during the 1950s, drawing fans of all ages with raucous noise and adrenaline thrills to this all-American sport. Opening its gates in October 1955, Lions Drag Strip welcomed 15,000 people to witness cars race in the Wilmington district of sunny L.A. The Lions Club International sponsored the beloved track, hosting a variety of races licensed by the American Hot Rod Association. After consistently holding races every Sunday for the next two years, Mickey Thompson, the strip manager, proposed Saturday night racing, leading to a rapid escalation of young fans in attendance. The drag strip thrived until 1972 when it was torn down to allow space for shipping cargo containers overseas. The memory of Lions Drag Strip cruises on today, being honored through pop culture with comedians paying tribute to announcer Larry Huffman's wired announcing style, in television series like The Munsters and Mad Men, and Brad Pitt's character in "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" wearing a Lions Drag Strip t-shirt. Half Moon Bay Dragstrip T-Shirt

In 1957 Half Moon Bay Airport doubled as one of racing's fastest, most attractive quarter-mile drag strips. Located just outside of San Francisco, Half Moon Bay Dragstrip, became the largest drag strip in Northern California—offering bleachers, concession stands, a safety net, and a timing tower constructed from a bread van, to its many fans. Dragmaster Dart Monster T-Shirt

Dragmaster, the acclaimed drag racing team originating in 1954, was established when Dode Martin and Jim Nelson partnered with the shared goal of constructing dragsters and race cars for the swiftly growing sport. Dragmaster offered anything a car fanatic could dream, from kits to turnkey cars, as well as their revered Streetster. Inspired by the T roadster, the pair introduced the Streetster, a T-bucket tube-frame chassis kit, an item that propelled the Dragster name to stardom. The single-engine Dragmaster chassis became their signature as the car claimed victory in the NHRA Nationals in both 1957 and 1958, resulting in a high demand for the Dragmaster cars. Roland Leong began racing thanks to Dragmaster. After Top Fuel dragsters were allowed to race in NHRA races in 1965, the pair ceased construction of Dragmaster dragster chassis and began transitioning into an automotive repair shop. Although Dragmaster was sold in 1995, the legendary Dragmaster cars live on in the spirit of drag racing and racers. This Dragmaster Dart Monster T-shirt pays homage to immortal dragsters.
