GM 8L45 and 8L90 transmissions often suffer burnt clutches, shift concerns, low line pressure and/or converter apply complaints—due to excess wear in the signal accumulator piston bores in the control solenoid valve body casting. This wear allows valuable VFS signal pressure to exhaust, preventing proper shift control, line pressure regulation, and/or converter clutch apply. Sonnax drop-in signal accumulator piston kits allow bores to be reconditioned quickly and easily with no reaming required. The hydraulic integrity of the VFS signal pressure circuits are re-established, and future wear prevented with positive sealing and wear-resistant components. Wear at the piston pin bore surface can result in poor shift quality and burnt clutches and bands. Sonnax pinless accumulator piston kits prevent pin bore leakage. Noticing some forward slip and/or delayed engagement with your GM automatic transmission? Ford E4OD and 4R100 transmissions often display shifting irregularities which can be traced to problems with accumulator control valves. Wear ridges form as the valve moves in and out of the bore. Under high-pressure shifts, the valve is allowed to stroke too far, causing it to hang up on these ridges and block oil flow to the associated clutch.
