Alloy USA front shafts are manufactured from bulletproof 4340 chromoly and the rears are made from high-tensile strength 4140. The 4140 alloy axles are perfect for handling the load when twisting torque is applied. Each of these shafts is double heat-treated, induction-hardened, and black anodize finished.

Their strength comes from heavy-duty, press-formed, 1/4 in. plate steel center sections; 1/2 in. plate steel differential mounting surfaces; 5/16 in. thick 1020 DOM axle tubes; and forged 1035 steel knuckle balls. Trail-Gear's knuckle balls are stronger than stock, so there are no worries of them becoming closed or bent. And, the thicker differential mounting surface ensures that the studs cannot pull out, even under heavy loads. Trail-Gear's design—offset tubes and shaved center section—provides you with added clearance to climb the high country. Plus, since housings are precision-aligned with computer imaging, you can rest assured they're 100 percent straight and true. You have a choice of bare tubes, or with spring perches installed—or 3-link ready with a panhard bracket included. Years after releasing their successful Rock Assault 9 axle housing, Trail-Gear decided to add a Toyota 8 in. version to the Rock Assault lineup. This housing is built to the same specifications as the Rock Assault 9 axles; however, they're built to accept the popular Toyota 8 in. differential. These housings have been tested in W.E. Rock, CalRocs, and King of the Hammers—so you know they'll stand up to the toughest terrain on earth. Trail-Gear started with a 1/4 in. thick formed shell for the center section made from A36 steel. This is a high-strength, low alloy, structural steel plate with a minimum yield strength of 36,000 psi. All of this is attached to an equally strong 1/2 in. thick faceplate for anchoring the DOM axle tubes. The axle tubes are secured by the industry's first 3-Point Attachment System, giving the tubes superior support and engagement into the center section. Trail-Gear also faces the center section to ensure your differential mounts flush against the axle housing to prevent any leaks. Rock Assault Fabricated 8 Housings are offered with 3.5 in. O.D. axle tubes with your choice of 1/4 in. or 3/8 in. wall thickness. NOTE: The housing is shipped with no ends. Housing ends must be sourced and installed to complete axle. Portal style ends are commonly used for this application.
