Sonnax Feed Limit Low Valve Kits

The feed limit low valve in listed GM transmissions limits line pressure feed to the default disable solenoid and control valves. Feed limit low pressure is also connected to the boost ball system for "A" and "B" clutch control. This feed limit low valve is subject to significant side-load force, resulting in severe wear and pressure loss to the default disable solenoid and connected control valves. Such pressure loss can put the vehicle into default mode at high speeds, resulting in momentary wheel lockup, sudden downshift to 2nd gear, harsh shifts or a P0747 code. The feed limit low valve can wear out in as little as 30,000 miles, with many vehicles requiring service by 35,000 miles. A national recall from GM includes installing updated software that monitors valve performance and wear, then triggers a check engine light and reduced propulsion message 10,000 miles before failure. Vehicles are then limited to 5th gear, commonly referred to as limp mode, until the valve body is serviced to address the failed valve. Sonnax Valve Body Detent Ball and Sleeve Kits

The detent ball in the valve body in listed Chrysler automatic transmissions (see Applications tab) wears into the aluminum bore due to continuous movement and vibration of the linkage. This creates excessive looseness in the manual valve lever and allows the manual valve to move out of alignment. No start or being stuck in Park can occur from the manual valve being out of position due to extra clearance. This condition often requires that the valve body be replaced. Sonnax valve body detent ball and sleeve kits allow the valve body to be salvaged. The bore must be oversized using the self-guiding bench reamer included in Sonnax tool kit 22771-TL12. A .096 in. diameter drill bit is also included to allow the retaining pin hole to be redrilled for use with the OE pin. Sonnax detent spring 22771-36 is also available. Vehicles with a GM 8L45 or 8L90 automatic transmission may exhibit high or low line pressure that results in harsh/soft shifts, burnt clutches, loss of cooler and lube flow, and overheating of the transmission and converter. These problems may be caused by wear of the pressure regulator bore casting at the VFS signal port area and/or at the shuttle valve sleeve. Wear at the inboard port of the pressure regulator bore allows VFS (throttle) signal pressure to leak, preventing proper action of the pressure regulator valve and potentially allowing it to remain in the low line pressure position. Wear of the shuttle sleeve due to continuous oscillation of the shuttle valve creates a path for balance line pressure at the pressure regulator valve to exhaust, resulting in excessive low line pressure. The ideal GM TH400 upgrade for any power level, Sonnax heavy-duty forward drums (34554-01) feature a unique combination of high-strength, light weight, and a cutting-edge design to optimize transmission performance. Racing applications quickly push the heavy, cast-iron OE drum over its limits, with failure most common at the weak point where the shaft and drum connect. The problem can be addressed with a larger spline and lighter-weight aftermarket aluminum drum—but durability becomes a huge issue with wear of the clutch splines, shaft spline connection, and seal ring bore. To dramatically reduce weight and deliver the ultimate in reliability, the Sonnax high-strength, chromoly steel drum is custom-engineered with several lightening features for a low rotating mass. It weighs 3 lbs. less than the OE drum and is just 3 oz. heavier than a common aluminum drum. Weight is reduced carefully, without compromising strength, by ribbing the front of the drum, adding clutch splines (28 vs. 14) and lightening holes, plus reducing the diameter inner section of the drum at the middle seal ring area. Sonnax Reverse Boost Valve Kits

Vehicles with GM 200-4R and 4L60 transmissions often have problems with poor reverse boost or upshifts in manual low. These are generally caused by a worn reverse boost valve sleeve or wear at the pump body.
