Transmissions showing symptoms of soft shifts from 1-2 or 2-3, periodic harsh shifts, or low line rise may be able to correct the problems with one of these Sonnax Line Pressure Modulator Plunger Valve kits. When sleeves become worn, electronic pressure control (EPC) oil can leak past the valve to cause the soft shifts; valves will also stick or hang up through wear, leading to the rough shift issue. These kits modify the sensor signal, which causes the computer to create a pressure increase. The feed limit low valve in listed GM transmissions limits line pressure feed to the default disable solenoid and control valves. Feed limit low pressure is also connected to the boost ball system for "A" and "B" clutch control. This feed limit low valve is subject to significant side-load force, resulting in severe wear and pressure loss to the default disable solenoid and connected control valves. Such pressure loss can put the vehicle into default mode at high speeds, resulting in momentary wheel lockup, sudden downshift to 2nd gear, harsh shifts or a P0747 code. The feed limit low valve can wear out in as little as 30,000 miles, with many vehicles requiring service by 35,000 miles. A national recall from GM includes installing updated software that monitors valve performance and wear, then triggers a check engine light and reduced propulsion message 10,000 miles before failure. Vehicles are then limited to 5th gear, commonly referred to as limp mode, until the valve body is serviced to address the failed valve. Sonnax patented this drop-in feed limit low valve kit to overcome bore wear, restoring proper valve function immediately without the need or expense of replacing the entire valve body. The Sonnax adjustable rear servo pin kit 34912-01K replaces GM TH400 and '95-earlier 4L80-E servo pins. OE pins have seven different lengths to allow for adjustment of the Low/Reverse band—but are no longer available from GM. The Sonnax pin kit has an adjustment range that covers the five longest OE pins to allow for accurate setting of the Low/Reverse servo piston travel. GM 6L45, 6L50, 6L80 and 6L90 automatic transmission units may exhibit multiple line pressure and cooler/converter/lube flow problems due to excess wear in the pressure regulator bore. Deterioration at the balance spool end allows critical fluid loss, resulting in high line pressure, harsh shifts, and overheating due to reduced cooler/converter flow. Wear at the outboard spool robs converter feed pressure and lowers line pressure, resulting in soft shifts and burnt clutches. Sonnax TCC regulator and isolator valve kits assist in recovering hydraulic control and renew TCC performance. Severe wear of the TCC (torque convertor clutch) regulator valve bore, caused by oscillation of the OE valve, allows the regulated converter to apply pressure to your exhaust. This is a primary cause for TCC-related slip code and overheated converters. Exhaust pressure also diminishes line pressure, which can result in burnt clutches. Sonnax throttle valve plunger kits address the poor line rise or no detent downshifts that can be common complaints in vehicles with a stock overdrive transmission. In GM TH350 and TH350C units, the intermediate servo bore becomes scored from repeated cycling. The spring side of the piston has line pressure present in R, N, D.
