Sonnax hydraulic line pressure booster kits contain stronger pressure regulator springs and large ratio boost valves designed to work together, providing progressive pressure increases as driving conditions become more demanding. Their springs are approximately 10 percent stronger than OEM and more conservative in impact than other aftermarket kit springs. Large ratio boost valves provide higher pressure incrementally and when it's needed the most. Sonnax Line pressure booster kits allow you to shift aggressively and then feel the tranny grab the clutches with more power when it changes gear. The larger boost valves and matching regulator springs raise line pressure progressively as higher pressure is commanded. These kits modify the sensor signal, which causes the computer to create a pressure increase. They're installed between the pressure sensor and vehicle harness using OE-style sealed connectors; no modifications are needed to the transmission.

Vehicles with a GM 8L45 or 8L90 automatic transmission may exhibit high or low line pressure that results in harsh/soft shifts, burnt clutches, loss of cooler and lube flow, and overheating of the transmission and converter. These problems may be caused by wear of the pressure regulator bore casting at the VFS signal port area and/or at the shuttle valve sleeve. Wear at the inboard port of the pressure regulator bore allows VFS (throttle) signal pressure to leak, preventing proper action of the pressure regulator valve and potentially allowing it to remain in the low line pressure position. Wear of the shuttle sleeve due to continuous oscillation of the shuttle valve creates a path for balance line pressure at the pressure regulator valve to exhaust, resulting in excessive low line pressure. Sonnax drop-in pressure regulator and shuttle valve kits restore hydraulic integrity to the lineup by addressing wear that subjects the transmission to either excessively high or low line pressure with upgraded materials and unique designs. The pressure regulator valve has been designed with a lengthened spring pocket spool at the VFS signal port area, which provides over double the sealing capability to this critical end of the valve and allows it to operate in unworn portions of the bore. The length of the critical shuttle valve diameter has been significantly lengthened to provide better sealing and durability of the assembly. Continuous oscillation in relay valve and sequence valve bore causes wear that prevents proper hydraulic control. You can recover hydraulic control and renew 2nd and 4th gear operation by reconditioning the entire bore and installing a Sonnax oversized 4-3 sequence valve kit. These kits address wear on the inboard two spools that is increasingly more common in aging valve bodies. Wearing at these spools can allow valuable 4th servo feed leakage, resulting in no 4th and 2-4 band wear, and can also allow leakage of 2nd clutch oil needed to apply the 2-4 band in 2nd gear, resulting in poor 2nd gear shifts. Leaking at the OE end plug also allows oil loss that can leave 4th gear inoperable. Sonnax oversized 4-3 sequence valve kits feature hardcoat anodized aluminum valves to combat premature wear and O-ringed end plugs to help prevent 4th gear oil loss. GM 6L45, 6L50, 6L80 and 6L90 automatic transmission units may exhibit multiple line pressure and cooler/converter/lube flow problems due to excess wear in the pressure regulator bore. Deterioration at the balance spool end allows critical fluid loss, resulting in high line pressure, harsh shifts, and overheating due to reduced cooler/converter flow. Wear at the outboard spool robs converter feed pressure and lowers line pressure, resulting in soft shifts and burnt clutches. Installing a Sonnax pressure regulator valve kit restores the hydraulic integrity of these circuits for proper line pressure control in all ranges. A new pressure regulator valve outer spring is also included to replace weakened original springs and provide a modest 5 psi increase across the pressure curve.
