Reid Racing Super Hydra 400 Transmission Cases
Redesigned and strengthened, Reid Racing Super Hydra 400 transmission cases address weaknesses and add features that improve every aspect of the Turbo 400. They build their Super Hydra 400 cases with full 360 degree internal case "lugs" that retain the center support and pressure plate. Not only are they lightweight and offer minimal drag, but their abuse tolerance has been kicked up several notches to handle high-horsepower levels without ending up with a ruined transmission! A direct replacement for the GM case, Reid cases use an incredibly expensive permanent mold casting technique to increase the case wall thickness, making it sufficient to pass SFI 4.1 certifications without the need for any external shields or internal liners. Tremec introduces the Magnum-F 6-speed manual transmissions for fourth-generation Camaros and Firebirds. Designed to replace T-56 transmissions in 1998-2002 GM F-body cars, the Magnum-F leverages Tremec's pervasive TR-6060/Magnum architecture in order to provide fourth-gen enthusiasts significantly improved performance and relief from a shrinking pool of quality T-56 replacement parts. Born in the vacuum created by the release of the original T-56 Magnum (now known simply as 'Magnum') back in 2009, the Magnum-F fills a longstanding void in the overall Magnum line with regard to shifter locations—addressing not only LS1-powered '98-'02 F-bodies, but several other applications that utilize a similar shifter position. Beneficiaries include third-generation F-bodies, LT1-powered fourth-gens, LS-swapped late models of all varieties, and sport compact applications such as A80 Supras, FD RX-7s, and more! Where the original Magnum shifter locations may prove too far forward, and the extended length Magnum XL's too far back, the Magnum-F's in-between position often proves to be just right. Inside, the Magnum-F benefits from the same durable componentry found in many of today's hardest hitting OEM muscle and sports cars. Over the T-56, the Magnum-F transmissions boast increased face-width on all gears, a robust combination of double and triple cone synchronizers, enhanced webbing in the main case, provisions for a cooler circuit, and more! Sonnax Smart-Tech Drum Modules
Sonnax Smart-Tech drum modules for racing GM TH400 transmissions improve on-track performance and consistency, leading to quicker ETs, more wins, and greater reliability. The TH400 is preferred for its overall durability and multitude of available ratios, but is known to be heavier and less efficient than the popular two-speed Powerglide. Part of the TH400 inefficiency results from the fact that the direct drum counter-rotates, spinning backwards in 1st gear, brakes to a complete stop on the 1-2 shift, then goes from 0 RPM to input RPM on the 2-3 shift. Significant energy is wasted through this cycle that robs power, upsets traction on the shifts, and contributes to broken internal parts. Compared to aluminum direct drums, the Smart-Tech drum module reduces the weight of the counter-rotating components by over 3.3 lbs.!
