The feed limit low valve in listed GM transmissions limits line pressure feed to the default disable solenoid and control valves. Feed limit low pressure is also connected to the boost ball system for "A" and "B" clutch control. This feed limit low valve is subject to significant side-load force, resulting in severe wear and pressure loss to the default disable solenoid and connected control valves. Such pressure loss can put the vehicle into default mode at high speeds, resulting in momentary wheel lockup, sudden downshift to 2nd gear, harsh shifts or a P0747 code. The feed limit low valve can wear out in as little as 30,000 miles, with many vehicles requiring service by 35,000 miles. A national recall from GM includes installing updated software that monitors valve performance and wear, then triggers a check engine light and reduced propulsion message 10,000 miles before failure. Vehicles are then limited to 5th gear, commonly referred to as limp mode, until the valve body is serviced to address the failed valve. Sonnax patented this drop-in feed limit low valve kit to overcome bore wear, restoring proper valve function immediately without the need or expense of replacing the entire valve body. RCV Performance disconnect block-off kits are used to permanently disable the vacuum-actuated front axle disconnecting feature in vehicles with Dana 30 differentials, which are commonly found in vehicles like Jeep YJ and XJ. These kits allow for a more permanent and simpler 4x4 setup. The kits are designed to essentially bypass the vacuum system that allows the front axle to disconnect when the vehicle is in 2WD, effectively making the front axle permanently engaged. When replacing a two-piece axle with a one-piece axle set, a block-off kit is required to use a one-piece axle set. Why are wheel bearing protectors needed? : Boat trailer hubs get warm while traveling to the ramp. Warm hubs backed into cool water during launching are suddenly cooled, which contracts any air inside the hub—creating a vacuum. The vacuum pulls water and road grit inside the hub, contaminating the grease. This contamination causes corrosion and rapid wear. Perfectly good bearings can be ruined in less than one season. C.E. Smith wheel bearing protectors correct this problem by filling the entire hub with grease. Most air that is trapped inside the hub will be expelled by the bearing protector pressure relief feature. Once the hub is full, the spring-loaded piston in the bearing protector exerts a slight pressure to the grease inside the hub. With the pressure inside the hub slightly higher than the pressure outside the hub, water and grit cannot be drawn inside.
