Sonnax output shaft supports are high-strength replacements for the stock Powerglide output shaft support. GM 6L45, 6L50, 6L80 and 6L90 automatic transmission units may exhibit multiple line pressure and cooler/converter/lube flow problems due to excess wear in the pressure regulator bore. Deterioration at the balance spool end allows critical fluid loss, resulting in high line pressure, harsh shifts, and overheating due to reduced cooler/converter flow. Wear at the outboard spool robs converter feed pressure and lowers line pressure, resulting in soft shifts and burnt clutches. Sonnax ring gear stabilizer kits reduce high-speed vibration and drag, while also preventing damage to short pinion gear teeth. Powerglide transmissions with poorly supported planetary ring gears will experience vibration at high speeds and broken reverse friction plates as it moves off the transmission center line, oscillating out of control. Sonnax TCC regulator and isolator valve kits assist in recovering hydraulic control and renew TCC performance. Severe wear of the TCC (torque convertor clutch) regulator valve bore, caused by oscillation of the OE valve, allows the regulated converter to apply pressure to your exhaust. This is a primary cause for TCC-related slip code and overheated converters. Exhaust pressure also diminishes line pressure, which can result in burnt clutches. Solenoid switch valves and plugs in various Chrysler transmissions cause bore wear as they oscillate and stroke during operation. This wear allows pressure loss and cross-leakage, and often permits the plugs to cock and hang up in the bore. Ford E4OD and 4R100 transmissions often display shifting irregularities which can be traced to problems with accumulator control valves. Wear ridges form as the valve moves in and out of the bore. Under high-pressure shifts, the valve is allowed to stroke too far, causing it to hang up on these ridges and block oil flow to the associated clutch. Worn babbit pump bushings in your GM Powerglide, 350, 400, or Allison AT540 transmission can allow the converter hub and inner pump gear to move off-center, thus causing damage to pump gears and the pump housing crescent. You can replace the worn originals with automatic transmission oil pump bushings from Sonnax.
