Here is how they work: Each checker's designated length range number represents the overall length it can measure from closed through one full inch when fully extended. A laser-etched alignment line identifies each full rotation, while grooves every .050 in. on the inner sleeve keep count of the number of rotations made. For example, when a 7.800-8.800 length checker is turned apart by one rotation, the correct length for the new pushrods required would be 7.850 in. (7.800 + .050 = 7.850). Jesel Pushrod Length Checking Tools
Special parts often require special tools. Jesel's pushrod length checking tools are one of those "getting it right" tools for pushrod length checking. The basic body of the tool consists of three pieces of aluminum tubing. The tubing pieces are 5 in., 3 in. and 1.5 in. long. On two pieces of the tubing, one end is male and the other is female and each end is threaded. Outer ends accept a screw-in pushrod ball end. In total, the pushrod length checking tools are adjustable from 6 in. to 12 in. Important note: Before you order new pushrods, first check the pushrod length on several different cylinders, as well as on both engine's cylinder heads to determine sizes.
