MSD Digital Single-Channel Ignition Testers
MSD single-channel ignition testers allow you to check the entire ignition system while it is in the car. Once the ignition tests good, you can continue troubleshooting and find the culprit. The testing units produce a simulated trigger signal that fires the ignition just as if the engine were running. A special load-producing, clip-on spark plug is included to connect to the coil wire. If the spark is unable to jump the gap of the tester, there is an ignition problem and you can trace it down. The testers operate on 4, 6, or 8-cylinder engines and will simulate up to 10,000 rpm.

MSD DIS Coil Simulators
In some instances when you install a DIS-4 Plus Ignition, the factory ECU may not be able to distinguish when the coil fires. This is the signal that is also responsible for firing the injectors (or the tachometer), which may cause a no-run situation. MSD DIS coil simulators replicate the original coil trigger signal, thus allowing the ECU to properly trigger both the tach and fuel injection with the MSD DIS Ignition installed.
