A worn oil pump drive assembly will probably trigger a check engine light and will make a funny squeaking sound that has been described as a laughing barrel of monkeys, however it is no laughing matter. The factory design poses a lack of lubrication, that could result in premature failure. Crown Automotive oil pump drive assemblies (OPDA) feature redesigned internals to eliminate the problems with the factory units, a seal under the upper bearing which caused the bearing to fail prematurely. Crown's OPDA has the seal relocated to above the upper bearing and an oil groove in the shaft which is designed to bring oil up to both the upper and lower bearings. Proper wiring is crucial to the performance and longevity of your fuel pump. Make sure that your fuel pump is receiving full voltage from the battery with this heavy-duty kit. It will provide a continuous supply of voltage to prevent drop-off that's common with OE wiring—which will protect your fuel pump from damage. Additionally these FPSSK kits feature an oil pressure safety switch to turn off the fuel pump in the event of oil pressure loss. Without a safety switch your fuel pump will continue to run, even if a fuel line comes loose or in the case of an accident. Once oil pressure is lost, this kit will turn off the power to the pump. The 6001Z series from Auto Rod Controls is the latest in control module innovation from ARC! Based on ARC's exclusive flat touch technology this new system is packed with new features that racers not only want but need in an electrical system. This new system incorporates a built-in system kill switch like some of our other units, but to keep the size of the unit down we developed multi-function switches. The water pump and fan are on the same switch. Touch the switch once to turn the water pump on and touch it again to turn on the water pump and the fan. The water pump and fan have separate relays but share one switch. The same holds true for the taillight switch, one touch turns the taillights on the second touch turns out the taillights and turns on the new built in interior lighting which is available in blue or white. Other innovations include ARC's exclusive oil pressure control. The system with monitor the oil pressure through a user chosen pressure switch and if the oil pressure falls below the switch setting it will automatically turn the ignition off. ARC also incorporated a neutral safety into the relay board. Simply connect the supplied wires from the relay board to the neutral safety switch and you are done. The car will not start unless the shifter in in a proper location for starting. This system also has a firewall bump start switch circuit built in. Simply run a supplied wire from the relay board to the bump start switch and ground the switch and your bump start switches are ready for use. These will also work through the neutral safety switch for complete safety. ARC's 6001Z series control modules include printed wire for the car and a user activated ground trigger relay for any use. We also included a dedicated 5-amp data logger circuit which will stay on for 6 seconds after shutting off the ignition to allow for processing. Rounding out this system are 2 30 amp fused power take offs for any use. ARC also includes LED's at every output on the relay board to quickly see if there is power leaving the relay board to the accessory connected to it.

It's always a good idea to place a safety switch in the circuit when installing an electric fuel pump. Holley safety fuel pressure switches will ensure the electric pump will not work unless the engine has oil pressure. It will prevent the pump from running in a situation where the motor may stall with the ignition on. Wiring the switch through the starter solenoid circuit energizes the pump on engine start-up. After the engine is running, the switch continues to provide power to the pump as long as there is oil pressure to keep the switch turned on.
