MSD Pro-Billet Distributors

MSD Pro-Billet distributors share the same CNC machining techniques as the rest of the MSD distributor line. They feature a housing that's machined from high-quality 6061-T6 aluminum for durability and show-quality looks. Their oversized shaft receives a QPQ coating for friction reduction and corrosion resistance, with the added strength of two sealed ball bearings that guide the shaft accurately at well over 10,000 rpm. An extra-long sintered bushing replaces the ball bearing at the bottom of Chevrolet models. TIG-welded on top of the polished steel shaft is MSD's accurate mechanical advance assembly. The weights are supported by nylon pads that allow the advance to operate smoothly throughout the rpm range. For all-out racing, the advance mechanism can also be easily locked out. To accurately trigger the ignition, a high-output magnetic pickup is bolted to the base. This pickup produces a precise trigger signal that will never vary more than one degree at any rpm. A durable gear is installed for performance applications, and an MSD red cap with brass terminals and race rotor is supplied. They're available in standard and small diameter models for applications with limited clearance, and require the use of a separate ignition box such as an MSD 6, 7, 8, or 10 Series ignition.

MSD Pro-Billet Marine Distributors

MSD recognized the need for a true marine performance distributor and built these Pro-Billet marine distributors to answer this need. Marine environments place rigorous demands on every component of the ignition system, especially the distributor. The combination of water spray, salt exposure, full throttle acceleration, and harsh vibrations all take their toll. The housing is CNC-machined from billet 6061-T6 aluminum, creating a housing with no porosity or weak areas. Internally, a Tuftride coated steel shaft is guided by a sealed ball bearing and an extra-long sintered bushing for high-speed stability and endurance. Each distributor uses MSD's race-proven magnetic pickup to trigger the ignition control. The pickup receives its signal through a precision-manufactured reluctor that is attached to the shaft. The mechanical advance assembly receives a QPQ plating for long lasting resistance to corrosion in marine environments. Their mechanical advance assembly is easily adjustable, so you can dial-in an ignition curve to match your boat's application. Three additional sets of advance springs and stop bushings are included with detailed instructions, making adjustments easy to perform and understand. The distributor cap is bolted and sealed to the aluminum base, and has two flame arrestor holes with brass screens machined into the base of the distributor. This design works to prevent ignition of gas fumes that may build up in the engine compartment. A special weathertight connector is supplied to provide a positive lock and water-resistant connection. This heavy-duty connector will withstand high temperatures and water, and plugs directly into the MSD 6M-2 or 7M-2 ignitions. The distributors come complete with a high-quality, bolt-down alkyd cap and MSD's racing rotor. These high-quality distributors have been tested by the Underwriter's Laboratory, and are certified to meet or exceed safety standards for marine ignition systems as set by the U.S. Coast Guard. They require the use of a separate ignition box.

These Pro-Billet dual pickup distributors from MSD are specifically designed for Circle Track racing. Not only do they feature a strong, CNC-machined billet 6061-T6 aluminum housing and a large steel shaft, but they also feature two magnetic pickups for a complete redundant ignition system that can be activated at the flip of a switch. The pickups are triggered as a precision reluctor, mounted to the oversized shaft, spins past. The pickups are placed precisely 180 degrees apart so that when you switch to the secondary ignition, the timing remains constant. Guiding the distributor shaft is the responsibility of two sealed ball bearings for incredible endurance and high-end stability. The shaft also receives a QPQ coating for corrosion resistance and friction reduction. Additional features include a fully adjustable mechanical advance consisting of a hardened advance cam, chromoly weights, and weight pins that are TIG-welded to the advance plate. The entire assembly is welded to the polished steel. The advance assembly can also be easily locked out for quick tuning changes. The Chevrolet model features two O-ring grooves at the base of the CNC-machined housing to prevent oil in the lifter valley from leaking through the oil passage. If the engine deck, heads, or intake have been modified, there is an adjustable slip collar that allows you to set the correct installation depth. Wilwood has engineered two reverse floor-mount brake pedal assemblies, one with a standard bias adjuster balance bar and the other with a precision Tru-Bar. Both models incorporate an adjustable clutch pedal assembly. Wilwood floor-mount 2-pedal assemblies feature lightweight aluminum frames with high-strength reinforced I-beam style forged pedal arms and stainless steel foot pedal pads. The pedal heads adjust vertically to fine-tune the pedal ratio (5.25:1 to 6.00:1) for more feel or less pedal effort. The non-skid waffled pedal pads can be laterally adjusted for driver preference.
