The OEM fuel pressure sensor on the VR30 engine found in the Infiniti Q50 and Q60 and Nissan Z vehicles is a common failure point for many in the enthusiast community, which is why a solution was necessary. The AMS Performance VR30DDTT high-pressure fuel sensors are designed and validated similar to the OEM sensor found in your stock Nissan VR30 engine; however, their improved design allows them to better withstand pressure fluctuations and outlast the stock sensor—especially on modified VR30 engines. They're such an improvement that in product testing, customers have gone from near weekly OEM sensor failures to zero failures with the AMS replacement sensors. Factory fuel pressure sensors have two points of failure: the sensor internals themselves, and the harness connector. The most common is the sensor internals which often fail from large fluctuations of high pressure within the fuel system. These fluctuations are more common on VR30 cars with upgraded fuel systems, especially when running E85, and the AMS sensor's more robust construction helps prevent failures. The connector issue, however, can happen to any vehicle at any level of modification, as the pins within the connector dislodge due to normal engine vibration. MSD offers replacement wiring harnesses for the Power Grid Dual NTK wideband oxygen module—a dual channel air/fuel ratio (AFR) system designed to interface with the Power Grid (P/N 7730) to monitor and record the AFR of internal combustion engines. The oxygen sensor module is capable of measuring AFR as low as ? = 0.5 (7.35:1 gasoline AFR equivalent). The AFR range is configurable using the MSDView software in conjunction with the Power Grid Controller (P/N 7730).
