The oxygen sensor, or O2 sensor, measures the amount of oxygen in your vehicle’s exhaust gases. Your engine’s computer uses this data to help figure out the current air/fuel ratio, which allows it to maintain fuel efficiency and emissions standards. If your ride starts running rough, you may need to clean or replace this important sensor. Narrowband vs. Wideband

A narrowband O2 sensor only informs the computer if your engine is running rich or lean. A wideband sensor measures how rich or how lean the ratio is.

Upstream vs. Downstream

Upstream O2 sensors are positioned before the catalytic converter; downstream sensors are after it.

Denso Oxygen Sensors

Oxygen sensors, also known as Lambda sensors or O2 sensors, are among the most sensitive and critical components on your car's engine. They monitor the air/fuel mixture under idle, moderate acceleration, and cruise conditions. Oxygen sensors have a smaller range of limits in detecting and adjusting the difference from an optimum air/fuel ratio than the newer wide range air/fuel sensors (A/F sensors). Today's engines may use as many as four oxygen sensors to monitor exhaust gas oxygen content and catalytic converter efficiency. In order to perform these functions properly, Denso oxygen sensors adhere to strict OE standards within incredibly close tolerances. A malfunctioning or incorrectly calibrated oxygen sensor can hurt drivability and illuminate the check engine light, resulting in costly and time-consuming repairs. Denso First Time Fit oxygen sensors are designed to meet those tolerances and more. Key features and benefits of Denso Oxygen Sensors include: * Robotic laser welds * Porous PTFE filters block efficiency-robbing contaminants * Double-protection covers maintain proper temperature for quicker response times and protect ceramic elements from silicone and lead fouling * Rugged, watertight stainless steel housings resist corrosion and contamination * Aluminum oxide trap layers keep silicone and lead out, preventing damage to the platinum electrode * Refined zirconia elements improves sensor response * Superior design maximizes engine performance while reducing fuel consumption and harmful emissions * First Time Fit design delivers the right part the first time

Bosch Premium Universal Type Oxygen Sensors

Worn-out sensors can cause engine performance problems and premature catalytic converter damage. Bosch premium universal type oxygen sensors with OE SmartLink produce precise output in proportion to the air/fuel ratio, due to a sophisticated sensing element. These premium sensors also use a patented connector system, which allows them to be added to an existing OE sensor harness. Keeping a properly functioning oxygen sensor in your vehicle saves money on fuel cost and is good for the environment, too!
