Racepak's Vehicle Network (V-Net) is a "smart data" transfer network able to transmit multiple signals from sensors over a single cable. The key to the V-Net system is the modular connectors that attach each of the devices to the main cable. For a function or component to be monitored on the V-Net, the signal from that device must pass through a sensor and its module (essentially a miniature computer) that identifies and retrieves only the proper incoming signals and allows other signals to pass through. The sensor measures the input from the function or device (i.e. rpm, pressure, temperature, etc.), while the module converts the signal so it can be transmitted over the V-Net. Racepak analog pre-programmed V-Net modules with sensors are programmed to collect specific data and are ready for plug-and-play installation on the V-Net cable. Browse through the various types to determine which functions or components you want your V-Net system to monitor.

Shock travel sensors are linear potentiometers that record the slightest amount of suspension movement. Monitoring the extension and compression of the shock absorbers aids greatly in understanding what the chassis is doing. It is a principal means of evaluating suspension movement and chassis setup. Regardless of your type of racing, Racepak shock travel sensors provide information that is frequently crucial to separating winners from the also-rans. They are usually connected through an analog port of a data recorder (sold separately) and monitored at high sample rates. An analog channel is required for each sensor; a separate sensor is required for each wheel monitored.

FAST XFI driveshaft speed sensor kits measure driveshaft rpm to provide more accurate data for the traction control unit. Two magnets are fitted to the collar around the pinion yoke, which attaches to the driveshaft. When one of the magnets passes the pickup, it sends a signal to the XFI unit. They then use that signal to calculate both driveshaft rpm and driveshaft acceleration. As a result, these speed sensor kits provide much more precise readings, as opposed to determining driveshaft speed solely through variable engine rpm. The data they provide is perfect for drag race applications. FAST XFI driveshaft speed sensor kits are particularly beneficial for drag racers who need precise data to tune their vehicles for optimal speed and control, and to analyze performance during a run.
