MSD's DIS Series ignition control boxes are designed to easily convert an early style engine from a conventional distributor and single coil setup to eight individual coils. One coil per cylinder means no moving parts in a distributor to control the timing and no cap and rotor to wear-out. Timing is digitally controlled ensuring precision accuracy at all rpms and every firing. The DIS has advanced timing and rev-limiter functions for racers such as individual cylinder timing: timing retards for boosted and nitrous applications, a two-step rev-limiter, and launch control to get your car out of the hole and even data acquisition to help keep everything in check. The MSD Direct Ignition System (DIS) controller greatly simplifies the conversion from conventional distributor-type engines to a coil-per-plug configuration. Benefits include the elimination of distributor cap and rotor wear; reduced spark energy losses caused by long spark plug wires; and the ability to optimize your ignition tuning parameters. Your Harley® will run much better with Daytona Twin Tec Model 1005 internal ignition kits versus the older solid-state points eliminator that relied on the mechanical advance flyweights and all that. The "race mode" settings are awesome! They'll wake up your old bike. The advance curve network with adjustable advance slopes will accommodate stock to highly modified engines. Finally, all-out performance distributors to replace the OEM GM LT1 Optisparks--MSD's Pro-Billet LT1 distributors. They feature a precision-machined billet aluminum housing that fits in place of the factory piece, a new pickup assembly, a trick timing adjustment mechanism, and a new MSD distributor cap and rotor. The pickup is an advanced optical encoder that has proven to be very reliable and stable through extreme rpm and conditions. The rotor is bolted to a drive assembly that is indexed to the shaft, and is stabilized through the use of a large ball bearing assembly. The distributors use an adjustment screw to advance or retard the timing by up to 5 degrees.
