MSD Pro-Billet locked-out distributors are built from strong billet aluminum for engines that run locked-out timing or an MSD timing computer. With no advance assembly, the rotor plate is welded directly to the oversized shaft. A sealed ball bearing guides the top of the shaft, while an extra-long sintered bushing stabilizes the lower portion. This extra support ensures stable and accurate timing signals throughout your engine's entire rpm range. Trigger signals are produced via a high-output magnetic pickup. This pickup is extremely accurate and never requires adjustment. A precision-manufactured reluctor is responsible for triggering the pickup. Since these distributors are designed primarily for race engines, an oversized (+.006 in.) bronze gear is installed, along with an adjustable slip collar for modified blocks, heads, or intake manifolds.

There are two ways to limit your rpms. The rough way simply cuts off ignition spark, which can cause backfiring, extreme engine roughness, and possible engine damage. The gentle way is with these MSD Soft Touch rev controllers. They use sophisticated computer circuitry to drop spark one cylinder at a time, until your engine is at or below its maximum rpm. Those cylinders are then fired on the next cycle, to prevent them from loading up with fuel. The result is smooth rev limiting action without all the rough stuff. There are two versions of the Soft Touch rev controllers--one for MSD's 6T, 6TN, 6HVC ignitions, and one for OEM electronic and points ignitions. Both come with 6,000, 7,000, and 8,000 rpm plug-in modules, and can be used with other modules or MSD's RPM module selector.

We've taken our original Ready-to-Run billet distributors and upped the ante with our Summit Racing™ Digital RTR (Ready-to-Run) Plus billet distributors. They now feature a digital module with a 7.5 amp rated dwell control circuit for maximum energy output. They deliver 400 volts and 125mJ of spark energy to the coil and upwards of 50,000 volts from the coil to the spark plugs. Flame-Thrower Race HEI distributors from PerTronix produce 42 percent more energy in the coil, with 46 percent faster spark breakdown time. This allows 48 percent more peak current to reach the spark plug, compared to their Street/Strip HEI distributors. That's an enormous improvement over stock HEIs and most aftermarket HEI distributors. A specially designed vacuum lockout mechanism prevents timing adjustments that change rotor phasing, adversely affecting the burn time and efficient fuel combustion. This is accomplished through the use of an advanced Hall-effect style pickup, which is then converted to a signal that most CD ignition controls accept.
