These self-contained units have no moving parts to wear out, so they provide many years of trouble-free service. Simply replace the points with the Unilite module, which consists of a photo coupler, signal processor, and power switch. Each time the shutter wheel stops the infrared light from reaching the photo coupler, the electronic circuitry energizes the ignition coil. When the shutter wheel allows the light to reach the photo coupler, the stored energy in the coil discharges.
