In some cases, the GM 10SI and 12SI alternators backfeed through the regulator excitation wire—not allowing the engine to be shut off with the ignition switch. This diode, heat shrink, and butt-splice replacement kit lets you stop the backfeeding by installing it inline on the ignition switched wire going to the regulator's pin #1.

MechMan High-Output Racing Alternators
MechMan 6-phase hairpin high-output alternators offer a solution to the inadequate alternators that come from the factory on specified vehicles. These replacement units feature twin rectifiers with 12 massive press-fit diodes, as compared to the small 8-diode rectifier in the stock alternator. Even mild performance builds will typically consume more amperage than what stock alternators can provide. Hairpin stator technology provides better high-rpm durability and better resistance to heat from the turbo manifold.
