TurboStart voltage step down modules are recommended when using a 16 V battery in vehicles with an alternator--especially in long races. They are more effective than 3-post 16 V batteries (which can be susceptible to cell imbalance) in mixed voltage situations where sensitive 12 V components are used. The 12 V components can be connected to the voltage step down box to effectively "resistor" them. MechMan adjustable external voltage regulators include a 2-pin alternator harness. These combos work with most OEM and MechMan Chrysler units from 1999-2006, and will allow the user to adjust charging voltage anywhere from 13.8 to 19.0 V. Please note: Installation of this unit will leave the OEM alternator harness unplugged, which will result in the check battery light in the dash staying on all the time. Compare the plug on your alternator to verify compatibility.
