Racepak's Vehicle Network (V-Net) is a "smart data" transfer network able to transmit multiple signals from sensors over a single cable. The key to the V-Net system is the modular connectors that attach each of the devices to the main cable. For a function or component to be monitored on the V-Net, the signal from that device must pass through a sensor and its module (essentially a miniature computer) that identifies and retrieves only the proper incoming signals and allows other signals to pass through. The sensor measures the input from the function or device (i.e. rpm, pressure, temperature, etc.), while the module converts the signal so it can be transmitted over the V-Net. Racepak analog pre-programmed V-Net modules with sensors are programmed to collect specific data and are ready for plug-and-play installation on the V-Net cable. Racepak flow meters provide accurate flow readings for both fuel and hydraulic clutch systems. These general purpose turbine-type flow meters, when used along with DataLink's math channel capabilities, allow you to monitor the health of your fuel pump, as well as confirm the function of your fuel system timers and system lean-outs. Also offered in low-flow versions, those designated as low-flow are recommended for carbureted applications and are calibrated in lbs./hr. unless otherwise noted. Monitoring suspension deflection through shock absorber movement is the common method of tracking suspension and tire performance. Racepak users can employ these shock absorber travel sensors to monitor even the slightest amount of shock travel or tire shake. Racepak thermocouple connectors feature Type "K" calibration, are specifically made for Type K thermocouples, and are compatible with all fuels, naturally aspirated, and forced induction engines. Due to their reliability and accuracy, Type K thermocouples are used extensively in high performance and racing applications. Nickel based, they exhibit good corrosion resistance and function at temperatures up to 2,300 degrees F (1,260 degrees C). The connectors have small glass-filled thermoplastic yellow bodies and are rectangular in shape. Racepak thermocouple connectors are available in both male and female configurations. For your data recorder to be able to monitor an analog channel it must receive a signal that it can recognize. The Racepak Module PT2 convert the analog parameters to a standard 0-5 volt signal required by the recorder. The transducer module (combination sensor and signal conditioning modules) provides direct connection to the measured parameter, such as fuel or oil pressure. The signal conditioning module allows the connection of remote sensors, such as thermocouples or position sensors, to the data recorder.
