The exposed tip gives the sensor a lower thermal inertia, allowing for faster reading during temperature variation. FuelTech exposed tip thermocouples are available in several wire lengths, and each includes a weld-in bung for installation and an extra ferrule for compatibility with other EGT bung brands. The ring tip gives the sensor a lower thermal inertia than standard temperature sensors and provides an easier way to bolt to the head, allowing for faster readings during temperature variation of the cylinder head. The K-type cylinder head temperature thermocouple probe is compatible with the FuelTech EGT-8 CAN and ETM-1 conditioner (sold separately).
