MSD offers universal wiring harnesses to simplify the installation of a MSD 6 Series box on late model vehicles. The harnesses plug in between the ignition coil and the factory coil connector. After an MSD DIS-2 series ignition control is installed on the waste spark ignition system of some vehicles, the ECM of the vehicle will not be able to receive a cam sync signal. These MSD cam sync generators produce a cam sync signal after startup for the factory ECM. This is done by detecting a cylinder that is under compression through its signal wire, which is wrapped around the designated spark plug wire.
