Ideal for SB and BB Chevy engines, each of the XDi distributors feature a plasma nitrided gear compatible with all popular camshaft materials, including cast iron, austempered iron, 5160 steel, and even 8620 steel. The special plasma nitride process used on the gears not only increases the gear's surface hardness, but also the "slickness" of the gear teeth reducing friction and increasing cam/distributor gear life, as well as making them superior to common melonized gears.
