Summit Racing™ Protorque Starters are 100 percent new! Our lightweight Nippondenso-type starters offer a 4.0:1 gear-reduction ratio and a whopping 1.9 HP. That's 222 ft.-lbs of racecar cranking power. If that's not enough cranking power to suit you, there are even more powerful 3.1 hp monsters, which are a pound lighter! They have a 4.44:1 reduction ratio and churn out an awesome 342 ft.-lbs. of torque. Both of our Summit Racing™ powerhouses are suitable for engines up to 502 c.i.d., and compression ratios of up to 18.0:1. GM versions are adjustable for five mounting positions; Ford types, for 18. And, to prevent corrosion and electrical shorts, both starters wear a gold dichromate finish.

They are made with 100% high tear resistant silicone construction, a 50ohm per foot Wire-Wound FERRITE magnetic suppression core, stainless steel and brass terminals and extreme heat-resistant boots. Only the highest quality raw materials and Made in the USA workmanship, go into every set. The 100% High-Tear resistant silicone jacket protects the inner ferrite core from heat breakdown. The dual silicone layers are bonded together using a tightly woven fiberglass matting that virtually eliminates terminal pull off. Our 50-ohm ferrite core has over 3 FEET of nickel/copper mag winding per INCH! With this tightly wound core, you can be assured that your spark plugs are getting all the power your ignition system can provide. The affordable distributors have high-dollar features that outperform the competition, like a lightweight aluminum housing that's precision CNC-machined for strength and stability, polished steel shafts with sealed ball bearings for stable operation through 10,000 rpm, and a maintenance-free, high-output magnetic trigger for accurate and reliable performance. The distributors have a black alkyd cap and an adjustable mechanical advance, so you can precisely tune the curve to your engine setup. Some models also feature vacuum advance.
