MSD Pro-Billet Ready-to-Run distributors are the perfect upgrade for weak OE electronic distributors, outdated points distributors, and large HEIs or DuraSparks. All that's required is to install the distributor in the engine, and connect three wires and the coil! A maintenance-free magnetic pickup accurately triggers this ignition with increased output from the amplifier, easily outperforming stock ignitions. It will smooth out the engine's idle, improve starting, and perform at a much higher rpm. The housing is machined from billet 6061-T6 aluminum, using state-of-the-art CNC mills and lathes for a unit with no porosity or weak areas. The MSD Pro-Billet HEI distributors pick up where the originals left off. Drawing on years of high-performance ignition experience, MSD engineers created a unique ignition module and internal coil that are capable of running above 9,000 rpm. Stock and other aftermarket modules lose spark energy at about 4,500 rpm. These modules produce 50 percent more current than stock units, and deliver a much more precise timing signal as well as more dwell control. The coil delivers over 100 millijoules of energy across the plug gap. For strength and high rpm stability, the QPQ-treated oversized shaft is guided by a sealed ball bearing on top and long sintered bushing at the bottom. The QPQ coating provides a low-friction coating on the shaft and also makes it highly resistant to corrosion. TIG welded to the top of the shaft is an adjustable mechanical advance assembly. The distributors are supplied with extra springs and stop bushings, so you can tailor an ignition curve to match your driving needs. The advance assembly features chromoly weights that slide on nylon pads for smooth timing advancement through the entire rpm range. There is also a vacuum advance canister to improve economy while cruising. All of these features are enclosed in a great looking, billet aluminum housing that is CNC-machined for accuracy and incredible strength. The distributors come complete and ready to drop in with a high-quality rotor and cap with brass terminals for great spark transfer. Simply connect a 12 V source to the distributor and you're up and running. They're designed to replace GM HEI distributors that use a 4-pin ignition module.

What do you get when you add a rev limiter to the MSD's already bulletproof 6M-2 marine ignitions? The MSD 6M-2Ls! These ignitions are designed for performance marine applications where a high-energy and reliable ignition is a necessity. The capacitive discharge (CD) multiple sparks from the 6-series circuitry ensure easier starting, improved performance, and reduced plug fouling while idling. The MSD 6M-2L ignitions have the same mounting footprint as the original units, so they will easily fit into existing brackets. The proven Soft-Touch rev limiting action is set using MSD's marine rpm modules, so you'll be able to set a rev limit exactly where your engine needs it. The 6M-2L ignitions are built to deal with constant high rpm and load conditions unique to marine applications. To protect the 6M-2Ls' electrical circuitry from direct water contact, the entire units are potted with red polyurethane. This material prevents the electrical components from coming into contact with water or other chemicals that could cause damage. Weathertight connectors with multi-ribbed seals are unaffected by water, oil, gasoline, and most other chemicals associated with boats. The 6M-2L ignitions can be triggered by a magnetic pickup (distributor or crank trigger), amplifier, or breaker point distributor. The cable harness has the proper connector, so you can plug the 6M-2Ls directly into MSD's Pro-Billet marine distributors.

MSD Pro-Billet crank distributors are built specifically for racing engines with almost no room for a distributor, due to tunnel rams or blowers. These units are equipped with a special low-profile crab-style distributor cap, allowing them to fit into extremely tight areas. The housing features two optional O-rings at the bottom that improves oil control by preventing oil pressure loss. Also, a small oil bleed hole (located in the base) sprays oil on the distributor and camshaft gears to prevent excessive wear. Since these are racing distributors, there is an adjustable slip collar to make up for engines that have had the distance between the mounting surface and the gear modified. Crowning the Pro-Billet crank distributor is MSD's own crab cap. This incorporates spark plug-style terminals for a better connection and grip to the plug wires. If you run a blower, turbo, or even a naturally aspirated engine, MSD's Boost Timing Masters allow you to run at the edge of detonation for maximum power output. They can prevent detonation by automatically retarding the timing as your manifold pressure increases. The secret lies in a boost pressure sensor that's inside MSD's solid-state control box. The sensor reads boost pressure through a 1/8 in. vacuum hose attached to a boost pressure source. The result gives you peak power without harmful detonation. A dash-mounted control knob allows you to dial in the retard from 1 to 3 degrees per pound of boost pressure, up to a maximum retard of 15 degrees. Vacuum tubing is not included. These units must be used with an MSD 6, 7 or 8 series ignition.
