MSD Pro-Billet locked-out distributors are built from strong billet aluminum for engines that run locked-out timing or an MSD timing computer. With no advance assembly, the rotor plate is welded directly to the oversized shaft. A sealed ball bearing guides the top of the shaft, while an extra-long sintered bushing stabilizes the lower portion. This extra support ensures stable and accurate timing signals throughout your engine's entire rpm range. Trigger signals are produced via a high-output magnetic pickup. What do you get when you add a rev limiter to the MSD's already bulletproof 6M-2 marine ignitions? The MSD 6M-2Ls! These ignitions are designed for performance marine applications where a high-energy and reliable ignition is a necessity. The capacitive discharge (CD) multiple sparks from the 6-series circuitry ensure easier starting, improved performance, and reduced plug fouling while idling. The MSD 6M-2L ignitions have the same mounting footprint as the original units, so they will easily fit into existing brackets. The proven Soft-Touch rev limiting action is set using MSD's marine rpm modules, so you'll be able to set a rev limit exactly where your engine needs it. The 6M-2L ignitions are built to deal with constant high rpm and load conditions unique to marine applications. To protect the 6M-2Ls' electrical circuitry from direct water contact, the entire units are potted with red polyurethane. This material prevents the electrical components from coming into contact with water or other chemicals that could cause damage. MSD Pro-Billet Crank Trigger Distributors
MSD Pro-Billet crank distributors are built specifically for racing engines with almost no room for a distributor, due to tunnel rams or blowers. These units are equipped with a special low-profile crab-style distributor cap, allowing them to fit into extremely tight areas. The housing features two optional O-rings at the bottom that improves oil control by preventing oil pressure loss. Also, a small oil bleed hole (located in the base) sprays oil on the distributor and camshaft gears to prevent excessive wear. Since these are racing distributors, there is an adjustable slip collar to make up for engines that have had the distance between the mounting surface and the gear modified. MSD Pro-Billet Marine Distributors
MSD recognized the need for a true marine performance distributor and built these Pro-Billet marine distributors to answer this need. Marine environments place rigorous demands on every component of the ignition system, especially the distributor. The combination of water spray, salt exposure, full throttle acceleration, and harsh vibrations all take their toll. The housing is CNC-machined from billet 6061-T6 aluminum, creating a housing with no porosity or weak areas. Internally, a Tuftride coated steel shaft is guided by a sealed ball bearing and an extra-long sintered bushing for high-speed stability and endurance. Each distributor uses MSD's race-proven magnetic pickup to trigger the ignition control. The pickup receives its signal through a precision-manufactured reluctor that is attached to the shaft. The mechanical advance assembly receives a QPQ plating for long lasting resistance to corrosion in marine environments. Their mechanical advance assembly is easily adjustable, so you can dial-in an ignition curve to match your boat's application. Three additional sets of advance springs and stop bushings are included with detailed instructions, making adjustments easy to perform and understand. The distributor cap is bolted and sealed to the aluminum base, and has two flame arrestor holes with brass screens machined into the base of the distributor. This design works to prevent ignition of gas fumes that may build up in the engine compartment. A special weathertight connector is supplied to provide a positive lock and water-resistant connection. This heavy-duty connector will withstand high temperatures and water, and plugs directly into the MSD 6M-2 or 7M-2 ignitions. The distributors come complete with a high-quality, bolt-down alkyd cap and MSD's racing rotor. MSD Ford Coyote 2-Step Rev Limiters
If your Coyote-powered Ford was built after February 23, 2016, and you need a 2-Step rev-limiter for consistent burnouts or launches, MSD part number 87311 has you covered. When activated, the 2-Step will hold your engine at a constant RPM. This can be achieved by way of a clutch switch or push button. As soon as your activation switch or button is released, full ignition is restored and you're off to the races.
