In 1999 the Irwindale Speedway emerged, quickly followed by the opening of the 1/8-mile drag racing strip in 2001. Located in Southern California's San Gabriel Valley, the Irwindale Dragstrip hosts legal drag races for cars, trucks, and motorcycles. A firm believer in abiding by street-legal automobiles, the drag strip proudly rejects the "nowhere else to go" notion practiced by illegal street racers. From 2003 to 2010, the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown competed on Irwindale Speedway's 1/2-mile oval. This televised race included the top 30 drivers in the NASCAR K&N Pro series and the top 40 drivers in the NASCAR Whelen All-American series, attracting many car racing enthusiasts to what was known as the "best-of-the-best" race. Irwindale Raceway continues to be home to a diverse variety of car races—from the Turkey Night Grand Prix to the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown to the Formula D Championship Series. This retro T-shirt celebrates the popular Irwindale Raceway, with dragster graphics on the front and back. The 100 percent ringspun cotton unisex tees are available in a variety of sizes. Additional details: * Preshrunk, soft-washed, garment-dyed fabric * Twill taped shoulder-to-shoulder * Set-in sleeves * Double-needle stitched sleeves and bottom hem * 1 in. ribbed collar with double-needle topstitched neckline

Tom Prock and Jay Howell formed one of the most interesting and successful drag racing partnerships of the late 1960s. At the time, Howell was working at the famed Logge Stamping Company overseeing their shop. Logge was a very large volume producer of drag racing chassis at that time—and along with all of their other projects, a guy named Tom Prock had a 1933 Willys that he wanted updated. Instead of going the standard direction, the guys put a Logge funny car chassis under it and were quickly informed by NHRA officials at their first event that the car was not legal to run there or anywhere in the gas classes due to said chassis. They raced the car here and there in 1968 on the match race circuit and then figured it was all done. Then the phone rang in early 1969 and the boys decided to hitch up with a couple of other gassers, load a nitro burning 426 Hemi into the front of their car and travel the country as "outlaw gassers." The F-Troop '33 Willys is legend for wild runs with Howell at the wheel. The car went into the 180s and in various interviews, Howell said that the thing was a complete handful to get down the track at those speeds. We can only imagine. This 1:18 scale Acme diecast model commemorates the legendary 1933 Gasser built and raced by Prock and Howell. A Limited Edition collectable, the car features opening doors, hood, and trunk; removable top and boot; poseable steering; plumbed and wired engine; tilting front seats; detailed undercarriage; and serialized plate.

Dragmaster, the acclaimed drag racing team originating in 1954, was established when Dode Martin and Jim Nelson partnered with the shared goal of constructing dragsters and race cars for the swiftly growing sport. Dragmaster offered anything a car fanatic could dream, from kits to turnkey cars, as well as their revered Streetster. Inspired by the T roadster, the pair introduced the Streetster, a T-bucket tube-frame chassis kit, an item that propelled the Dragster name to stardom. The single-engine Dragmaster chassis became their signature as the car claimed victory in the NHRA Nationals in both 1957 and 1958, resulting in a high demand for the Dragmaster cars. Roland Leong began racing thanks to Dragmaster. After Top Fuel dragsters were allowed to race in NHRA races in 1965, the pair ceased construction of Dragmaster dragster chassis and began transitioning into an automotive repair shop. Although Dragmaster was sold in 1995, the legendary Dragmaster cars live on in the spirit of drag racing and racers. This Dragmaster Dart Monster T-shirt pays homage to immortal dragsters. Made of pre-shrunk, soft-washed, 100 percent ringspun cotton, the garment-dyed fabric tees feature set-in sleeves, twill taped shoulder-to-shoulder, double-needle stitched sleeves and bottom hem, and a 1 in. ribbed collar with double-needle topstitched neckline. An eye-catching conversation starter at the track, at work, on campus, or just everyday wear. Order your size while they last!
