SCE Vulcan cut-ring head gaskets are hybrids forged to harness the best sealing properties of two head gasket types—composite and stainless steel. With no sealant needed, the pliable, perforated metal-core composite bodies eliminate coolant and oil leaks, while the solid stainless steel cut-rings "bite" into the cylinder head forming a positive barrier against combustion pressure leaks—without machining. SCE Vulcan cut-ring head gaskets are designed for use with high-static compression or forced-induction engines, which are prone to combustion pressure leaks when using typical composite or MLS head gaskets.

Cometic MLS head gaskets are constructed from multiple layers of stainless steel for strength and contain load-controlled embossments that conform load distribution across the sealing area. This creates an exceptional seal by requiring less clamp load—resulting in less bore distortion. The stainless steel outer layers utilize FKM (Viton®) rubber coating, a high-temperature and chemical-resistant polymer. A topcoat of PTFE aids in resistance to fret and increased cold sealing. MLS head gaskets are available for most aftermarket cylinder heads; as with all of Cometic's MLS head gaskets, no sealants or re-torque is required.

Not all solid copper gaskets are created equal. SCE uses premium 99 percent pure copper sheets that are precisely rolled to our specifications and tested for uniform flatness to assure precise cylinder head-to-block alignment and eliminate uneven loading. After processing, each gasket is annealed to ensure optimum mating and provide measurable gains in cylinder sealing, as evidenced by lower leak-down percentages. O-ringing is recommended. Pro Copper gaskets are available in many bore and thickness combinations to suit your performance needs.
