Made from durable 16-gauge steel, Competition headers feature 5/16 in. thick flanges that are heavy enough to maintain header integrity, yet pliable enough to seal each exhaust port. Unless otherwise noted, these headers are designed to fit the vehicle as it came from the manufacturer. Hooker Super Competition Sidemount Headers
Hooker Super Competition sidemount headers and mufflers deliver the most aggressive style and performance for your early Corvette, Camaro, Nova, or Firebird. Sidemount headers are built from lightweight 18-gauge tubing. Sidetubes slip directly into the collector for a leak-free seal. They are available in your choice of three finishes: Show quality chrome, high heat-resistant black paint, and metallic ceramic coating. The replaceable mufflers are available separately in two different styles: glasspack and reverse flow. The glasspack style provides the highest performance with minimal backpressure and sound control, while the reverse flow is designed for maximum sound control. Leak-tested for maximum performance, they feature the industry's best welds for durability and are carefully engineered for precise fit. Available for a wide range of applications, they're offered in block hugger, competition, fenderwell, lakester, long tube, mid-length, shorty, upright, and turbo styles. Varying with the application, Flowtech headers are constructed from sturdy and lightweight cold-rolled mild steel or stainless steel for increased strength and durability. All tubing is mandrel-bent to provide consistent tubing diameter for smooth flow and increased exhaust velocity. Extra-thick, machined header flanges provide a leak-free seal and maximum strength. For long-term rust and corrosion-resistance, available finishes include natural and polished stainless steel, high heat-resistant black paint, or a satin silver metallic ceramic thermal barrier coating. All mounting hardware and premium gaskets are included. Important notes: Breaking in an engine with ceramic coated headers WILL result in damage to the coating and will VOID all warranties. Ceramic coated headers require several heat cycles to fully cure before they will withstand extreme heat.
