The MagnaFlow Difference
MagnaFlow mufflers feature a straight-through design, where the muffler chambers are full of stainless-steel packing material that surrounds a perforated pipe. This design produces a loud, aggressive exhaust noise, and because there are no air flow restrictions like you will find with chambered mufflers, exhaust gases flow through the muffler quickly, which results in your engine producing more horsepower.
MagnaFlow Exhaust System Styles
Your first decision when adding a new MagnaFlow exhaust will be to choose which type of system configuration you want. Primary types to choose from include cat-back, axle-back, turbo-back, and particulate filter back.
Cat-back MagnaFlow exhaust systems replace all exhaust components from the catalytic converter back. They tend to be a popular option because they affect power and sound significantly while remaining emissions legal in most places. Axle-back MagnaFlow exhaust systems include the components from the rear axle to the exhaust tip. They tend to be less expensive and easier to install than other configurations, yet still provide sound improvement and power gains over stock.
