These new clean sheet designed aftermarket blocks are cast in a modern state-of-the-art German foundry on brand new molds and machined in USA on modern high-speed machining centers that can hold the tightest of tolerances. Why start your engine build with a dirty, old, worn-out production block that needs hundreds or thousands of dollars of machine work--when you can start with a new heavy-duty casting full of high-performance features. We ship these blocks mostly finished but leave the cylinder bore .005" undersize, your machine shop will have to hone them for proper size. The foundation for a better big block build begins with Dart Big M Sportsman Big Block Chevy cast iron bare blocks. Dart engineered the Big M to be the strongest, most reliable, and easiest to build big blocks on the market. The Dart Big M Sportsman blocks feature: * Standard 9.800 in. and tall 10.200 in. deck heights available for Stroker engines * Standard 4.250 in., 4.500 in., or 4.600 in. bore sizes with Siamesed extra thick cylinder walls to resist cracking and improve ring seal (minimum .300 in. thick with 4.625 in. bore) * Uses +.300 in. tall Gen VI style lifters. Modifications for Gen IV style are also available * Scalloped outer water jacket walls improve coolant flow around the cylinder barrels to equalize temperatures * 4-bolt ductile iron main caps have splayed outer bolts for extra strength * True priority main oil system lubricates the main bearings before the lifters * Oil filter pad is drilled and tapped for an external oil pump * Lifter valley head stud bosses prevent blown head gaskets * Rear main cap uses standard oil pump and two-piece seal, no adapter required * Mechanical fuel pump boss, clutch linkage mounts, and side and front motor mounts simplify installation in chassis * Dual oil pan bolt patterns fit standard and notched oil pans * Coated cam bearings, freeze plugs and dowels not included * Small bore 396 version available

World Products Merlin IV Engine Blocks

World Products has made improvements to virtually every area of the new Merlin IV engine blocks—with the goal of producing the most technologically advanced and best-performing iron BBC block available today! New features include thicker main webs for increased strength and thicker cylinder walls which are nominally .310 in. @ 4.600 in. bore. In addition to the standard BBC 9.800 in. and 10.200 in. deck heights, new heights measuring 9.500 in., 9.850 in. and 10.250 in. are now available. The World Products Merlin IV engine blocks are also available with a 2.120 in. BBC cam journal and standard .842 in. lifter bores, or with a 2.283 in. journal for a 55mm Babbitt cam and .904 in. lifter bores. World Products has added a front oil feed for dry sump systems, and relocated the lifter oil feeds and restrictor provisions to the front of the blocks.
