This arrangement uses an oversize cast iron main ring, plus a chrome-faced secondary ring that overlaps the main ring's end gap. This interlocking design forms a gapless seal, which gives Total Seal TSS Steet rings a miniscule leakdown rate of just 2 percent or less, compared to the 8 to 10 percent rate for conventional gapped rings. They're perfect for street or mild race applications with 10.5:1 or lower compression ratios.
