These terms aren’t that precise, and can mean different things to different manufacturers, so make sure the crate engine you buy comes with everything you need and nothing you don’t. ATK high performance GM marine 383 stroker Mercruiser MPI base 380 HP long block crate engines are remanufactured version of the Mercruiser 377CI MPFI engine with a 4.030 in. bore (383ci). It has the upgraded 4340 forged crankshaft and forged pistons along with the Mercruiser camshaft installed. It is to be used with the Mercruiser MPI system, aftermarket EFI or a carburetor conversion. This engine will make 405HP at the crankshaft and 380HP at the prop which is how Mercruiser rated their power ratings.
