The hot new small block V8 in the GM lineup is the hyper-aggressive LS3 6.2L 376 c.i.d. 495 hp engine assembly from Chevrolet Performance. It offers a high-revving 376 c.i.d. combination that represents generations of small block V8 development and engineering. Not only is the LS3 an amazing engine in its stock configuration, but with those high-flowing rectangular port cylinder heads, the LS3 is loaded with potential. To tap into this, the engineers at GM Performance Parts offer you the LS376/480—an LS3 with an upgraded camshaft that boosts power by a whopping 50 hp! The LS376/480 comes with the same great features as the LS3 crate engine. The bottom-end includes a 6-bolt aluminum block, nodular crank, high performance rods, and 10.7:1 pistons. The heads are high-flowing rectangular-port L92 units that have been upgraded with high-revving, hollow-stem valves. The same EFI intake manifold feeds the hungry engine, while 1.7:1 roller rockers work with the upgraded camshaft. The GM Performance Parts engineers picked the LS Hot Cam (P/N 88958733) to take the LS3 to the next level. This cam specs out with .525 in. intake and exhaust valve lift. Duration (at .050 in.) is 219 degrees intake and 228 degrees exhaust, which allows for a dramatic increase in power. Got a 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton, or other GM pickup with a tired, sick, or broken engine? Chevrolet Performance has exactly what you need. Their 350 c.i.d. truck long block crate engines are built up from 1996-2002 style 4-bolt main blocks with one-piece rear main seals. To this, Chevrolet adds a nodular-iron crankshaft, powdered-metal connecting rods, and hypereutectic aluminum pistons. You also get power-producing Vortec cylinder heads with 1.94 in. intake valves and 1.50 in. exhausts, and 64cc combustion chambers that yield a gas-pump friendly 9.4:1 compression ratio. This combination is paired up with a roller cam that has 0.414 in. of intake lift and 0.428 in. for the exhaust. Duration at 0.050 in. of lift is 191 degrees for the intake and 196 for the exhaust, with 111 degrees of lobe separation. Chevrolet Performance's 525 RLB is based on the LS engine family and is like the 6.2L CT525 but sold as a sealed long block for universal racing sanctioning bodies. The high-revving 525 RLB crate engine is assembled with strong forged pistons and heavy-duty connecting rod bolts designed to support its performance capability and enhance its durability. With its deep-breathing LS3 rectangular-port cylinder heads, it is a combination rated at 533 horsepower at 6,600 rpm and a strong 477 lbs.-ft. of torque at 5,200 rpm, when used with a 4-barrel carburetor and intake manifold, per Chevrolet Performance testing. The engine assembly comes with coil-on-plug ignition and an SFI-certified balancer, along with a 6-quart racing oil pan and more.
