Hamilton Cams Cummins Tappets are solid valve lifters and are available for Cummins 24-valve and 12-valve 6-cylinder engines. They are also offered for Cummins 4BT 4-cylinder (8-valve) engines. Cast tappets for 6-cylinder engines feature a 1.450 in. diameter and do not interfere with the fuel pump eccentric on 12-valve engines. Much wider than the 1.100 in. tappets used in early 12-valve engines, their greater surface area makes them perfect replacements. These 24-valve and 12-valve tappets work well with the wider lobes of Hamilton Cams camshafts and promote much better lobe life with today's low zinc oils. For use over 5,000 rpm, with heavy valve springs, or a billet steel cam, Hamilton Cams offers 1.450 in. steel tappets. They are specially designed and manufactured to handle the higher pressures, rpm, and loads of competition use. Hamilton Cams Cummins 4BT tappets have a 1.300 in. diameter; much wider than many 4BT tappets that are only 1.10 in. These cast 1.300 in. tappets allow the pressures between the camshaft and the tappet to be spread over a significantly larger surface area to reduce lobe and lifter wear.

For maximum increases in low-end torque, engine vacuum, and improved idle quality, Rhoads V-Max variable duration flat tappet lifters are the answer. These unique lifters are designed to significantly increase low-end torque and engine vacuum. This makes them the best choice for hot street, performance marine, and all racing applications. Typical vacuum increases range between 3 to 5 in. at idle when used with bigger cams. They are fully adjustable and require an adjustable valvetrain. Adjustment is similar to solid lifters--simply use a feeler gauge to adjust the exact amount of lift reduction you want, anywhere from .010 in. to .030 in., and that is exactly what you get at idle. Duration is reduced between 5 and 20 degrees at .050 in. lift, depending on the adjustment. As the rpm increases, so does your valve lift and duration. Complete lift and duration restoration take place at approximately 4,000 rpm. V-Max series lifters are also particularly suited for racing applications with vacuum rules. You can run more cam than your competition while still meeting vacuum requirements, giving you the performance advantage.

Melling M-Select Class 1 camshafts are part of their full line of high performance camshafts graded from Class 1 to Class 4. Class 1 camshafts have durations of 200 to 215 degrees at .050 in. lift. They feature good idle quality with strong low-rpm torque and midrange performance. These cams will work well with stock or slightly modified engines with either manual or automatic transmissions. M-Select Class 1 camshafts may have lower vacuum than OE camshafts.

Rhoads Original hydraulic flat tappet variable duration lifters are famous for increasing low-end torque, engine vacuum, and idle quality on engines equipped with performance hydraulic cams, while maintaining maximum top-end power. Better fuel economy and improved emissions quality are often reported by customers with Rhoads lifters. The unique construction of Rhoads Original hydraulic lifters reduces lift and duration at idle by approximately .010 in. to .020 in. Duration is reduced by approximately 10 to 15 degrees. COMP Cams's XD-A pushrods offer a game-changing method for accurately setting lash or pre-load while using non-adjustable-style rockers. These patent-pending pushrods incorporate a top section that slides 2 in. inside a wider bottom section, with one or two shims captured in-between. Proven to 9,000-plus rpm in solid roller LS applications, the system provides a 90 percent increase in bending stiffness for enhanced valvetrain stability. It also allows for lightening of a rocker arm system by 30-plus grams on the backside by removing the adjuster and required support area for threads and seating. The use of lighter rockers with XD-A adjustable pushrods allow higher rpm to be achieved by creating a much more dynamically stable valvetrain system. COMP Cam XD-A pushrods are designed especially for engines with low-mass rocker arms and a light valvetrain with drop-in fitment in LS engines.
