Harland Sharp offers rocker arm shaft spacers for a variety of applications, including many Ford, Mercury, Chrysler, Dodge, and Plymouth engines from the 1950s, '60s, '70s, '80s, and '90s. Machined from aluminum or steel, these components are used in engine valvetrains to adjust the alignment of the rocker arm roller tip on the valve stem. They're placed on the rocker arm shaft to shim the rocker arm assembly, ensuring the roller rolls in the center of the valve tip and improving valve alignment. This alignment is critical for engine efficiency and prevents premature wear, especially at higher RPMs. Additional details: * Shims are used to push the rocker arm assembly sideways on the shaft * Centering the roller prevents it from walking off the end of the valve, which can cause parts to break * The shims are primarily used in engines with shaft-mounted rocker arms, especially for high performance applications where engine stress is higher * Various thicknesses and inner diameters are available to fit different engine specifications
