King HP-Series rod bearings were developed mainly for drag race applications needing a material harder than the Babbitt top layer. These applications demanded a structure that could withstand high loads for short durations and still offer higher embeddability and compatibility. In response, King developed the HP-Series, featuring the Alecular metal structure. The HP-Series is also suited for many performance applications with nodular cast iron crankshafts, such as street, strip, and some levels of Circle Track racing. Order the set recommended for your vehicle. HP-Series bearings are particularly suitable for the following cases: * When a tri-metal bearing's Babbitt overlay extrudes over the sides, migrates to one end, or is physically removed by the crankshaft * When the intermediate layer of a tri-metal bearing is exposed, damaging the crank journal and requiring expensive grinding or replacement * When contaminants enter the oil stream, scratching and damaging the crankshaft journals

Federal Mogul CP-Series rod bearings feature classic tri-metal construction and are a good choice for either street or moderate competition use. They have rugged 1010 steel backings, covered by Federal Mogul's H-24 copper-lead alloy. On top of this is a nickel barrier, followed by the tri-metal (lead-tin-copper) overplate that gives these bearings their strength and fatigue resistance. The bearings are then entirely covered with a flash coating of tin. Order the set designed for use with your make/model and engine application.

If you're building a high-level competition engine, you'll definitely want to consider Speed-Pro Competition Series rod bearings. They were developed in the trenches in NASCAR and Pro Stock competition, so you know they're tough. These bearings are built on premium 1020AK steel backings and overlaid with Speed-Pro's super-duty H-14 alloy. That's covered with a nickel barrier, followed by a thin lead-tin-copper overplate. However, unlike other performance bearings, there is no flash tin layer on top of that. That's because Speed-Pro engineers have determined that such a layer can actually move around under high performance conditions, sometimes resulting in undesirable consequences. Order the set designed for your vehicle and engine application.

If you're building a serious performance engine, then you'll want to consider Speed-Pro Competition Series main bearings. They were developed in NASCAR and Pro Stock competition, so you know they're tough. The bearings are built on premium 1020AK steel backings and overlaid with Speed-Pro's super-duty H-14 alloy. That layer is then covered with a nickel barrier, followed by a thin lead-tin-copper overplate. However, unlike other performance bearings, there is no flash tin layer on top of that. Speed-Pro's engineers have determined that such a layer can actually move around under high loads—sometimes with undesirable consequences. Depending on the application, these main bearings have oil grooves for enhanced lubrication, while maintaining a maximum bearing surface area. They also feature Speed-Pro's exclusive contoured-flange thrust bearing technology for higher thrust-loading capacity. Competition Series main bearings are available in nearly a hundred configurations for countless vehicle and engine applications.

Sealed Power engine products are a complete system of application-engineered replacement components, including pistons, piston rings, engine bearings, camshafts, oil pumps, timing components and valvetrain products. Sealed Power connecting rod bearings are available with different linings to meet every engine's needs. They're made using either tri-metal or aluminum bi-metal construction for the utmost in performance and durability for all stock rebuilds and mild performance applications. Tri-metal alloys feature a steel base coated with a sintered layer of copper-lead alloy, followed by layers of electro-plated nickel and babbit to produce the ultimate bearings. Bi-metal aluminum types carry all of the same features without the babbit, as specified by many of today's top engine builders. Sealed Power bearings are available for a multitude of engines in sizes ranging from standard to 0.060 in. oversized.
