Continental overrunning alternator decoupler pulleys are vehicle-specific and cover a wide range of applications. Designed internally with a one-way clutch that enables the alternator to coast freely if belt speed suddenly decreases (engine shut down or transmission shift), the OAD-style pulleys also have a patented internal torsional steel spring that is tuned to each specific application.
