On gasoline direct-injection engines this problem is compounded as there is no fuel to wash the oil mist off the back of the valves. Carbon deposit build-up can cause engine performance to suffer, often setting off diagnostic trouble codes. The solution for removal can be costly … until now. Steeda oil separators reduce detonation, oil burning, and deposits on intake valves by removing oil drawn through the PCV system before it can contaminate the intake charge. Excess crankcase pressure (blow-by) is vented from the crankcase through the PCV system, where it is drawn into the intake manifold and returned to the engine to be burned. High-rpm, turbo and supercharged, nitrous-boosted, and high-mileage engines often draw excessive amounts of oil into the engine through the PCV system.
